Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time commitment for being a mentor?

Full-time mentors are expected to participate in a two-hour session once per week over the course of our mentor year, but we also accept part-time mentors. Consistent attendance is important for building the mentor to mentee relationship, so we recommend setting a schedule and communicating that with your students and co-mentors. We also have optional Saturday events, happy hours, and on occasion, your lead mentor may also ask you to prepare something for a session ahead of time.

What qualities make a good mentor?

Mentors are dedicated professionals who are passionate about what they do and want to share that with the next generation of the industry’s workforce. Being an effective mentor requires enthusiasm, commitment, and flexibility. Whether you have one day of experience in the A-E-C industry or decades of experience, you have something to offer our students.
