ACE Mentor Program Houston Scholarship Program

Each year, ACE Houston awards scholarships to our graduating seniors to support their pursuit of careers in the design and construction industry and fulfill our mission to "support our students' continued advancement into the industry." Thanks to the generosity of the local AEC community, we have established a strong scholarship program, and we're so proud to support our students even after they graduate high school. In fact, last year ACE Houston initiated our Alumni Scholarship Program and in just two years, we've already awarded almost $12,000 to students pursuing post-secondary education, whether through certification programs, associate programs, undergraduate programs, or beyond, focused on careers in the AEC industry.

Jesse was one of the recipients of the 2020 CMiC - Allen Berg Memorial Scholarship presented by ACE National. He was awarded $12,000 towards his degree at George Washington University in St. Louis, where he will be studying mechanical engineering.

Jesse was involved in ACE Houston for three years during his high school tenure. He attended the Downtown location and made strong connections with mentors there, which eventually led to an internship at DPR Construction in the summer of 2019. When asked about his participation in ACE and his scholarship award, he had the following to share:

"As I look back on what choices brought me to where I am now, my decision to commit to the ACE program for the last three years of my high school career has had the greatest effect on my career plans.  In the future, I hope to give back to the ACE Program by becoming a mentor. This scholarship will help me earn my college degree so I can one day make that goal a reality."

The CMiC – Allen Berg Memorial Scholarship is a multi-year award aimed at talented, deserving ACE high school seniors intending to pursue post-secondary education and training leading to careers in architecture, engineering, construction, or the skilled crafts. The 2020 scholarship program awarded 23 scholarships totaling $400K varying from $5K-$40K to ACE students nationwide.
